Time and materials billing

Time-and-materials billing is a billing method in which the customer is billed for the time and resources actually used by the service provider, usually at an hourly or daily rate.

The "régie" billing method offers several advantages.

Invoicing is simpler, and performance is easier to calculate by referring to timesheets.

Time and materials management also offers great planning flexibility. It is easier toadjust resource capacity planning according to requirements, and to resort to subcontracting if delivery times are tight. There is less risk of cost overruns than with fixed-price invoicing.
